People

The people behind the institute and the missions

IHE is run by a small team that carries the same work from the research desk to the tent camps in Venezuela. Around it, two independent oversight bodies are being convened: a Scientific Advisory Board and an Independent Ethics Committee.

An IHE Humanitarian Response Team volunteer leads a drawing circle with children and their mothers on a sidewalk next to the camp.

Independent oversight

Two bodies being convened

IHE's governance places two independent bodies above the founder and the team. Neither has named members yet. We would rather show an honest vacancy than an invented board, so members will be announced on this page as they are appointed.

Scientific Advisory Board

In formation

Six to ten appointed researchers, from fields including cognitive science, behavioral psychology, relationship science, public health, and ethics. The board reviews IHE's research agenda and publications every quarter and produces a public annual review letter.

Independent Ethics Committee

In formation

Three to five members, including an ethicist, a clinician, and a community representative. The committee reviews every protocol and program before and after launch, and has the authority to halt any program that violates ethical standards.

An open call

We are looking for researchers for the Scientific Advisory Board, and for clinicians and ethicists for the Independent Ethics Committee. If the mandates above sound like your work, we would like to hear from you.
